4-H News

So last Saturday was 4-H Achievement Night. Where kids are recognized for awards they have won for the past years 4-H projects. I got my four year pin along with my best friends Shelby Norman and Cheyenne Baxter. Which basically means we have been members for four years.
I also got a Record Book Bank Award from Wells Fargo in Brigham City along with my brother Jensen. Jensen and I also got the Top Community Service Awards in our divisions. Jensen got it in the junior division and I got it in the intermediate division. But I have to say Jensen and I could not have done this well without my mom as our awesome leader and along with two other outstanding leaders and our dad who supported us and coached us to keep going when we got discouraged. Thanks mom and dad. I love you guys.

Tag!! I am it!!

I was tagged by Josh and Kaleena to tell 6 disturbing/unique facts about myself. Here it goes.
  1. I am night owl. I can stay up till two thirty and not be grumpy the next day I still wake up at seven when I do I am a little tired but other than that I am just hyper.
  2. I have a mole on my ankle and the bottom of my foot in the exact same spot as my mom.
  3. I have two different kinds of thumbs. In school when we learn about heredity we learn that there are hitchhiker thumbs and what I call fat thumbs. My mom has hitchhiker thumbs. My dad has "fat thumbs."
  4. I am extremely afraid of heights.
  5. I cant stand up and touch my feet together when I try my knees go on top of each other and my hips are un -even.
  6. My mom says I am the biggest klutz ever. Sometimes when I am walking down the hall I trip and fall on my face, I get up two seconds later and fall again, and again, and again.

Now I tag Shawna, Erin, and Bonnie. Write six disturbing/unique facts about yourself then tag 5 new people.

I Love You Mom!

Mom, I know sometimes I get kind of angry and I am not so nice to you. I just wanted you to know that I love you and I am glad you are my mom. Sometimes you are my best friend. You help me with homework, make me meals, and take me where I need to go. Sometimes when I come home from school and I am having a bad day you help me feel better.
Love, Chalisse

Dad!!!! Theres a Mouse in the Bunny Barn!!!!!!!

So one day Jensen and I went out to feed the bunny's. We heard a scratch and a squeak . Jensen and I immediately started freaking out. We thought it was a bird. Then, Jensen saw a little black head come out from the insulation. We ran into the house screaming Dad!!!!! There's a mouse!!!!! Later dad and mom told us to go clean the barn so we did. Jensen told me to take the nesting box out so we could sweep the floor. I thought the mouse could possibly be in there so I scooted it out with the broom and as soon as the box moved, the mouse jumped out and scurried away. Jensen and I ran away screaming, " Dad!!! Dad!! We saw the mouse." We are getting some poison from the store but we are still scared to go out to feed our animals.

State Fair

On Saturday, my family went down to the State Fair. First, we went and looked at Jensen's and my exhibits. Then we went and looked at all the animals. After seeing the animals, we went to the little hands on the farm activity. This is where kids get to pretend to be a farmer and learn about how farming works. We then went to the fine arts building and Jensen and I did a scavenger hunt that a lady by the door handed us. While in the fine arts building we saw a butter sculpture it was really neat, sadly I didn't get a picture of it. We also saw a pirate ship that was pretty big and was actually a bed. We had a lot of fun at the state fair and I hope we can go again.

First Day of School

So yesterday was the first day of school. Well it was kind of crazy finding classes, meeting teachers, and finding old and new friends. But all in all it was kind of fun. My locker still gives me trouble and I am still getting used to the fact that I can't sleep in any more. But I'll get used to it. The good news is there are only 178 days of school left.

Pitchfork Accident

This afternoon, I was outside feeding our cows, sheep, dog, and rabbits. I was using the pitchfork. I was standing on a bale of hay. Well, I was trying to stab the bale of hay but I missed and stabbed my toe with the pitchfork. It hurt like crazy and still does. My shoe was soaked in blood. However, luckily I was able to get my shoe clean. My toe looks really yucky and hurts very very very very badly. Sometimes I have to limp.

Ahh! I Am So Stressed Out !

I am so stressed. The fair is in two weeks and I still have tons of projects that need finished. My lamb, Buster, still needs to be worked with. Right now he is still afraid of me and does not like it when I halter him or hold him in show position.

I am also stressed because school starts in three weeks. My school shopping is no where near done and I am still really nervous to go to seventh grade.

Mr. Right where have you been!!!

My Uncle Jared got married on June 26th. While I was waiting outside the temple, I saw this gorgeous guy standing by the doors. I thought right away that this is the man I have been waiting for all my life. I ran up to him only to find out that this Mr. Right was a cardboard figure. Sigh-- Oh well, someday, somewhere, someone.

To the the left is a picture of Mr. Right (A.K.A.) Elder Nuttall.

Martin's Cove Here I Come!

The young women and young men from three wards were divided into ten families. This is a picture of my Martin's Cove family. Back row ( left to right) Pa Lonnie Curtis, Trevor Silva, Jay Merrill, Wilson Lamborn, Jake Taylor. Front row ( left to right) Ma Tonya Curtis, Kennedy Curtis, Chalisse Hunsaker, Mckenzie Yeates, Julieanne Bennett.

This is a picture of the chapel. Wednesday, July16th, I got up very early and left for Martin's Cove. We rode on a bus for seven long hours until we reached Martin's Cove. When we got there we loaded our handcarts and pulled them to the chapel near Martin's Cove. This is Fort Seminal where we went after we saw the chapel. This is a fort where the pioneers would stay when it was cold and snowy. When we were at Fort Seminal we had the pleasure of hearing from Ephriam Hanks (or so called). Who was one of the rescuers that Brigham Young sent to help the pioneers.

After that we went and saw Veil Bridge which was built in honor of the pioneers. A missionary told us a short story then we went and pulled our handcarts on a three mile hike to Cherry Creek Campground where we spent the next two nights. We set up camp, then ate dinner, went square dancing, and had a devotional around the camp fire until bedtime.

Thursday, July 17, we got up laid our tent flat so the wind would not blow it away, and cleaned the bathroom. (Our family was on bathroom duty). We then started the day with a family devotional, followed by breakfast. The handcarts were then packed up and we headed toward Sweet Water Foot Bridge. After we crossed this, we walked through Martin's Cove and Dan W. Jones Cove and had lunch.

Following lunch we went and saw the statues of the Sweet Water Rescuers (Who are the people who carried the pioneers across the water). Then we kept on walking and actually pulled our handcarts through Sweet Water. After this we hiked to Sandy Hill (Which is basically a sandy hill) the significance of this is that the ladies had to pull the handcarts up the hill by themselves because the men were gone fighting in the Mormon Battalion.

Then we walked back to our campground, put our tents back up, ate dinner, and square danced. It was exciting when the Pony Express came and brought us letters from home because everybody missed their families. Testimony meeting and devotionals were right before bedtime. But my trek sister and I stayed up and gambled for candy.

Friday, July 18th, we packed up camp, had another devotional and breakfast and left to go back to the chapel. We visited the visitor center and got back on the buses and headed for Independence Rock. (another big mountain that the pioneers had to cross). Then headed for home.

Quote by President Gordon B. Hinckley about Martin's Cove

The Mormon Pioneer Trail is "a trail of tragedy, a trail of faith, a trail of devotion, a trail of consecration, even the consecration of life itself..." Terrible was the suffering of those who came here [ Martin's Cove] to find some protection from the heavy storms of that early winter. With their people hungry, cold and dying from sheer exhaustion, they came up into this cove for shelter. And then they died here, some 56 people. They are buried somewhere in this earth. We stand here with bare heads and grateful hearts for the sacrifices, and the sacrifices of all who were with them who were along this tragic trail... [ May this site be visited by] generations yet to come, who, like we, may bow their heads in reverent remembrance of our forebears who paid so costly a price for the faith which they carried in the hearts.
